Fairly straightforward course that doesn't really justify the £35 weekday fee i was charged. First 12 holes are pretty plain but improve from there. Fairways and greens in reasonable but not fantastic condition. Worth trying if you live locally but there are better courses for less money around London.

My favourite local course, but maybe because i keep winning our annual visit here! Slightly expensive but the course in generally in good condition and the greens nice and receptive.

I played 36 holes at The Hertfordshire today.Eighteen before lunch and eighteen after. The course is in good condition and very enjoyable to play. The greens are far too slow and some of the bunkers have too many stones but overall it is a very nice venue. Make a day of it with a buggy. You can then play a relaxed round after taking lunch in their truly excellent and reasonably priced restaurant.
Smoked haddock on a bed of spinach plus a nice bottle of Chablis.....mmmmm! A civilised way to spend a summer day.

After playing this course for the first time i was impressed. There are alot of challenging holes from hole 13.I lost a few balls myself but it still doesnt stop you from playing well.I would definately come back here again and maybe thinking of becomming a member. My favourite hole is an island green surrounded by a lilly pond.
Brett (London) 03/11/02
The Hertfordshire provides a contrast of two nines, both enjoyable. The grees are well sloped and the fairways wide, but make sure you find the cut suff as the rough can penalise the best of players. The course looks long because of it's lay out, but good players will find that they can cut most holes down to size.
Holes of note are the 7th - a short put demanding par 4 where you must stay left to have any chance of hitting the green which is partially blocked by trees and protected in front by a brook - the 13th which dog legs left up hill, and is bordered by trees requiring a good drive to any chance of a clear shot to the target - the 14th - a cracking hole where you drive down hill avoiding the bunker on the right and the pond on the left, before turning uphill and right to the target - play this hole off the back tees to get the full effect - the signiture 15th - a par 3 from an lofted position down towards an island green surrounded by a very attractive lilly pond - and the 18th - do as we do which is to play it off the white tee, producing a 180 yard hole over a large pond to a slightly up hill target which is guarded by half a dozen bunkers at the front - a 3 here is an excellent score.
All in all, the Hertfordshire offers a good days golf with some memorable holes. The practice facilities are excellent, and the welcome is friendly. Well worth a visit.

Definately a course of two halves. The front 9 are very open and not too taxing with little apart from the odd bunker to punsih an errant drive. They are nicely laid out, with fairways and greens in good condition. From hole 13 through to the finish, the interest picks up considerably as holes make good use of the ups and downs and mature trees, with the added fun of water. The drive on the 16th is one of the most intimidating I have seen - at over 410yds and uphill it forces you to take a driver, but with trees left and right and a bunker on the left it needs to be accurate. Just to add to the pressure, a mis-hit will end up in the water. The 17th is just as good - a par 5 reachable in 2 but requiring a 190yd carry over water for the second. All in all a pretty good course.
