Cuckfield Golf Centre Player Reports

I played here recently for the first time and was quite impressed. It's a beginners course really but they've put in new greens which are fairly small and require a good shot. It's also a short course...Overall Id say its a short game sharpener for avearge players and good practice for beginners, but if you;re decent ie 12 handicapp and down, dont bother.

In 2004 new tee boxes have been added which has made all the difference and three new greens with plenty of contours on them. It is now 9 holes with 18 tees.
Very friendly club, always make you welcome, well worth a visit for a round of golf.

Clearly the above comments were made last winter! The course is now under new ownership and boy what a difference. Locals are now visiting once again and during the summer new irrigation facilities and course cutting regimes are having a positive impact!! The course does need further work but the owners need a chance to do this in the winter. I suggest the above players take another look! Everyone else has!!

VERY CHEAP , AND NOT VERY CHEERFUL. THE COURSE NEEDS ALOT OF WORK ON IT , DRAINAGE FOR ONE,THE COURSE IS LIKE THE SOMME[1916] IN THE WINTER.THE GREENS ARE ALL CIRCULAR WITH A FLAG IN THE MIDDLE.. ON THE UPSIDE WHEN DRY , AND FAIRWAYS MOWEN, ITS GOT THE MOST DIFFICULT PAR 5 I HAVE EVER PLAYED [THE 1ST]

I have played this course once before and even put in a short report .However now as a far better golfer my view of Cuckfield in particular in the winter has changed and not for the better .
On the plus size the lenght is not to bad ,a fair number of the holes interesting for their contours alone and the veiws are great .
However in the winter on the downside its goes as follows;
Tees -Terrible condition mud or long grass .
Fairways- What fairways if you want to practice getting out of the rough Cuckfield is ideal because the fairways are like most courses rough .Whatsmore they are all very wey and poorly drained .
Greens - Well they have a flag in the middle but they are to small and mown to about fairway level .
In conclusion this could be a really goog public course for the basics are in place but at the mooment just forget it like the locals .2/10

Cuckfield is a good value pay and play nine hole that whilst for the most part rather open none the less deems a fair lenght off the tee . The first hole is the best and all to easy to mis judge with most of the remaining holes being up or down hill . Not a bad course for a quick nine holes .
5/10
