Trethorne Golf Club Player Reports
Chris Amass (England) 19/05/08
Played as part of a one week trip for a small society from the south-east. Dealing with the club in terms of booking and checking in was an absolute pleasure, and although they remembered us from previous visits, I got the impression that it was typical service from them. In previous years, the greens have been a bit of a mixed bag, but I can honestly say that it was the best I have ever seen it. The course has a nice mixture of holes, including a good par 3 over a lake, followed by a drive back over the same water on the next hole. There's no thick rough to speak of, but enough trouble in the shape of either O.O.B or tree lined streams to keep your mind alert. The deal we did with the club included golf, buggies, and a two course carvery; it was probably the best value course of the week. Keep it up Trethorne!

I have just got back from a stag weekend at Trethorne and I have to say it was excellent. The accommodation was excellent, food was superb and as for the course, well that was stunning. It is quite a testing course, plenty of slopes, blind shots, the greens were quick with plenty of subtle breaks and overall it was just a fantastic course to play on. It is a course you have to plot your way round, if it is your first round there then I would suggest a course planner. We walked one round and buggied the next 3, if your playing more than 1 round in a day then I cant see why you couldnt walk it otherwise there are plenty of buggies to hire. I dont understand the the comments of Robin Hurst, there arent any holes that were so easy to reach with a driver, and even if you did then it was bad course strategy because never in a million years would you be able to hold the green. I am a long hitter (best of 358 yards) and at no time was I tempted to go for the greens. I think he must have had a bad round and wanted someone to blame!!!
Keep and eye out for the goodlooking bar staff, that will always cheer you up after 36 holes in a day. I am looking forward to going back.

we played the course on thurs 22/09/05 and can honestly say that this must be the worst value for money course that we have ever played. greens were totaly unplayable and for a green fee of £27.00 we felt that this was a compl;ete waste of money. if you go there take your backpack and ropes the hills are ridiculously steep, the third par 4 of some 390yds was that steep a tap with a driver and i went through the green. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Played the course on 11/8/05. THe Course was in fabulous condition and offers a real challenge. There are a number of blind / semi blind drives which are not for the faint hearted. The four hole (hole 284 yards) is a real challenge but my personal favourite is the par 3 5th - across a valley with trees all around. Well worth the time and money!

for £10.00 before 8.30a.m. it was superb value for money, typically cornish it was very up and down, but a real challenge. uphill lies downhill lies it has the lot. played 3 times in a fortnight and really enjoyed it. great clubhouse and was made to feel very welcome by members

We have played this course every year since 2001 and are once more returning next week but this time to spend the day.
The course is always in good condition, the staff are always helpful and pleasant and the challenges encountered are interesting for high & low handicaps alike.
It is a hilly course so if you find walking difficult hire a buggy, they don't cost the earth either,& a really enjoyable time will be had.
