Just played there today! i have to say the course is in excellent condition, it was the best I've seen the it in a few years, I've played a number of different venues this summer and i have to say the greens are one of the best, it's hard to find fault, To the green staff, keep up the good work!

Definitely not a winter venue. Played recently on a dry day after some routine autumn wet weather and spent a very unpleasant couple of hours trudging across a series of thoroughly waterlogged fairways as practically every ball was plugged and we lost a bagload. The tee boxes were churned up and all but unplayable. I guess that they couldn't risk losing their mowers on the boggy ground because the fairways hadn't been cut, so even shots played from prime position were like hitting out of light rough. I will not visit again until next summer when I hope to report a complete change of fortune. I certainly recommend avoiding this place until the Spring.

After reading the comments on this website i thought it best to find out for myself what the course was like.

I must say i was pleasantly supprised considering the negative press it has received here and would definately recommend playing there.

The tee's were cut low, striped an had no problems at all. This also applied to the greens as they were fast and the roll was true.

My overall opinion of Douglas Valley was it was one of the more challenging and best kept courses in the area maintained to a very high standard.

This course was once very well looked after, the greens are still ok and the fairways a bit wet at this time of year.

The Tee's are very poor and you'd be better off teeing off from the fairway.

Apart from this its a reall tester, loads of water and great for an afternoon.

The clubhouse has now been sold on to an itallian restaurant so members and guests are no longer able to get a drink after a game.

as a former member i have played this course quite a lot, its not long but its not easy either.

if your not straight leave your wood in the bag,its much safer and you'll save a few quid in balls!

with water playing a part in most of the holes its a true tester.

particular favourites are the 6th, its not too long, straight but with a very big and deep bunker in the middle of the fareway,beware!...

also the 8th,a dog leg left with a very tight well guarded green, bunkers in front and to the side, heavy rough sorounding and if you can avoid all those, make sure you dont hit it to the STEEP part of the green and end up in the water!

Busy course on some days so be prepared for a litle wait, its worth it.

Well what can I say? This is a nine-hole course that can have you crying one day, and the next day full of joy. Although the course may not be long, anything other than accuracy around all parts of the course is essential or your could find yourself in a lot of trouble, builing up a big score pretty quickly!

The greens are always good all year round, although the course can get wet in the winter months. The keyholes for me are 3rd, 7th & 8th, all containing water in some shape or form and OB lurking very dangerously. This is a friendly club, with excellent eating facilities, driving range and putting green. If there is a down side to the club, it's a fact that it can get very busy, and some of the tee boxes need a little work on.

All in all, an excellent American feel like course, with plenty of water.

Bring you A game with you - that's the only tip I can give you.

Cheers, Happy Member ?
