In 2004, My team got through to the final stages of the Daily Telegraph Junior Team Championships. We came from winning the Brunswick League to Winning the regional finals at Mere, to getting to the National Finals at Brocket Hall. We played two rounds. One Practice round and one competition round on the Palmerston Course. The course in our eyes was the 8th wonder of the world.Compared to our own course, Brocket Hall Was like a dream. The Course was in fine condition. Even the Sponshorship boards were Pristeen! We were Welcomed warmly and thouroughly enjoyed our stay and If you have a spare £130, its deffinately worth going!

The two courses at Brocket Hall are extremely well looked after, and even after all the rain that we've recently had, are still playing exceptionally well. Overall drainage is excellent and the greens seem to play as fast and true as when I played them in the summer - and there aren't many courses you can say that about.

The two courses are quite different. The Melbourne course is the older of the two and shorter, which makes it less daunting for the higher handicap players - although there are four holes where you play across the river which adds to the challenge. Although the Palmerston is a relatively recent addition, you wouldn't know it's only a couple of years old as many of the fairways are lined with very mature trees, and some of the holes are simply outstanding.

Apart from the two courses, the practice facilities at Brocket are superb, with free range balls, chipping and sand areas as well as a practice green. There's also a par 3 course as part of the Faldo Institute golf school which are all available for players to use.

If you get a chance to go to Brocket then take it. I can guarantee you'll be hooked.

unfortunately brocket hall has a no visitor policy (members guests only) which is pity because the two courses here are real gems.i played both this summer on seperate days(£35per round).the older course, the melbourne, has some wonderful holes, notably the 18th a par 5.the third shot requires a 100 yard carry over a river that laps against the green.you then get on the ferry to cross the river to putt for your birdie!!!but for the golfing purist the newer course, the palmerston,is golfing heaven.a parkland 1st soon becomes deiduous woodland then onto some fine mature pine lining the fairways and onto a heathland feel with some bunkers straight off a links course.a bit of the best of everything.the greens looked green and lush but were fast and mean and the fairways were good enough to putt on.if you get an invite to play here drop everything and go, you won't reget it.
