My sixteen year old son and I play this course every week. Yes at the moment there is lots of work being carried out and up until very recently there was heavy plant moving earth, but that seems to have died down a bit and now is not so noisey.
However, I think this is a great course to play and should not be avoided. The greens are good the fairways are well maintained and there are some very interesting holes to play.
at the moment this si a course that is very kind. If you go too far left or right you will be in GUr and get a free drop. This won't last long so have fun.

As the owner of North Weald Golf Club, I would just like to confirm that as highlighted by Mr. Bennett and Mr. Byrne below, we are undergoing re-modelling works on the golf course to create greater interest between holes, but all tees, fairways and greens are in play and in excellent condition. Currently 7 of the holes have areas of Ground under Repair adjacent to the fairway allowing a free drop back towards the fairways. The course works will be completed by the end of 2008.
While writing I should point out that Mr. Byrne was expelled from the club for continuous verbal abuse towards members of staff. I would suggest this might be the reason for his comments on this web site.

having played this couse on the 23/05/08 i was not impressed at all the greens were awfull along with the constant noise from industrial machines made this round 1 to forget... save your green fee and go elsewhere.. blakes is 10 minutes up the road and believe me at £17 a round you will not be dissapointed ...

Wow, what a course...in about five years time when they've finished building it. For now, treat this as a practice round and a walk round a land-tipping building site but not much else. I can see what it is trying to do and once finished looks like it will be great but the constant stream of dump trucks, mounds of earth, combined with a very heavy and saturated course (despite not much rain of late) made this an exercise in playing golf in a building site. I admit to being a beginner, which make things harder but there are better courses nearby.

If you enjoy playing on a building site this is the course for you. The owner is tipping on every avaiable piece of land so be prepared to dodge lorries! The food and service in the clubhouse is also appalling. What used to be a fairly decent course and clubhouse has deteriorated over the past year.

We were not expecting much from this course but were surprised. A very wet January but the course was in great condition. The greens were superb, dry, with many contours, in the summer this will be great. The tees were also in great nick, no need for mats. The fairways in places were very wet but it seems they are doing lots of work for drainage over here. The course is fairly plain but they are doing lots of work, putting in lots of water and new features. I look forward to playing this in the summers, I recommend you try this course. I will defo bring our society here.
