Played last weekend with the two sons. Enjoyed it despite the strong wind which made it difficult especially the first 6 holes or so which are most exposed....found the water rather wet although the carp inhabitants provided a good excuse for straying there in the first place...
Gave a good test whilst some holes provided birdie opportunities. The eldest lad (aged 14) managed 3 including driving to within 8 feet of the down wind par 4 fourth. Greens and fairways in decent nick although most bunkers were flooded due to cloud burst 2 days prior.
Would play again in more favourable conditions next time in the area.

as my home course i have seen just about everything this course has to offer. starting off with an open immature front 9 tests you from the off, although the fairways tend to be a little wide. As ever, the natural Lincolnshire landscape tends not give you the most inventive course but with what they have they've done well. the back 9 is slightly more mature but lacking in length, the only real testing hole being the 14th, the rest are parrable even for the high handicapper, making it a nice change from the front 9. the advantage that the hole course has though is 'proper' rough; sticky and long, it will punish the wayward shots. what the course lacks in excitement though the clubhouse makes up for, a nice relaxed and welcoming atmosphere and some very good food boosts it score significantly. in closing, good but not great, they've done well with the tools available.
