Quite an unusual course in some ways, a 38-33 split with a run of par fives on the front and par threes on the back. You need to pick your way round the first nine in particular, even a good drive can sometimes leave you blocked out behind the huge trees. The par three sixth is a brute, 217 yds to a well bunkered green only 6 or 7 strides across. Back nine is much easier to score on (and c700 yds shorter), three short par threes (incl a nice drop hole), plus a longish par three and couple of nice par four holes over the river.
Worth playing, but you need a little good fortune in places to score well unless you're very accurate / straight or just lucky!

Enjoyed my round. Played midweek at 07;10 and did not see a soul, sub-3 hour round. I imagine the course is more challenging in the summer when the trees have foliage and the temp tees (ie fairways) are not used, making it longer and tighter. Greens were good for Feb and are small but interesting. Not much in the way of bunkers, as you will see from any arial photos , or rough, (I used my driver and did not lose any balls!)but some interesting terrain, a wide river on a few holes and of course the trees.
The par 3 6th was beautiful to see but in this case the bunkering made it look an impossible target.
Course was easy to find and easy to book. The maintenance encampment on the 16th would be better hidden but did not affect play.
Recommended.

Me and my dad played here for the first time on 14/2/08 and we were very impressed. Despite the weather, the course was in very good condition with only a few temporary tees but no temporary greens. The greens in particular were very soft and very unpredictable. The 1st isn't really set out as well as some of the other holes, but the only reason why is because of the small par 3 course in the middle of the 18 hole course. The 7th is a particularly difficult hole as the tee off is blocked by trees where you aim to land, and that leaves you with a dilemma as to go for the green and risk ending up in the river that blocks your path, or lay up if you're chicken! The 9th is a short par 3 that shares it's green with finishing hole on the course. I found this very odd, because what happens if you tee off on the 9th but accidently end up on the 18th?! It is a very well designed course with 4 par 3's on the back 9 and 4 par 5's on the front 9. The pro shop isn't all that big but is still filled up with what you would normally expect. And a very good municiple course for golfers of all levels.

Played the `Deer Park' yesterday, the course was in very good condition considering how badly the wet weather hit the course. You can see where new drainage etc have been added and other improvements. Greens were true and fast. A nice welcome in the pro-shop and a friendly environment. Well done
