A 6615 yard course that doesn't play as long as the yardage suggests. A course which rewards good straight shots rather than just power shots. In terms of design, the second 9 holes have the more memorable holes, with the 16th in particular the stand-out hole. A par 5 which is reachable in two....but with the ultimate in risk and reward. The only downside was the speed of the green. They were slightly on the slow side. The clubhouse has a good friendly feel to it. As a member's guest, £21 green fees is a bargain.

Just played Mill Green today and was very suprised. Course was far better than I had expected.
As mentioned in previous posts 2 contrasting 9s which gives a bit more variation and interest. Felt that the course had real character and while not a hilly course there was a mixture of elevation from tee to green across the holes.
Overall the quality of the course was very good. The greens could be a little better and a bit faster but on the whole a smashing little course and so good I am seriously considering joining.
Playing off the yellows as we did the course is not very long but there is a massive difference between the whites and yellows. Felt that it was a course where you had to think your way round a bit rather than pull out the big dog and rip bombs down the fairway.

Played here midweek December 06 (£19.20 after 1 p.m.)
Quite an enjoyable ,good fun course that tails off a bit towards the end.
As usual it's a clever & well designed Peter Alliss course that makes the most of not very scenic surroundings (pylons, some industrial type of pumphouse in the middle of the course, constant road noise from the nearby A414,a big storage unit behind the 14th green.)
The front 9 (which i thought was the more enjoyable 9)is fairly open ,has a good feel to it & i thought every hole had something about it .Lots of well designed holes with moundings along the fairways , very good strategic bunkering & some ponds/lakes.It's fairly generous off the tee so you can have a whack with the driver.
The course carries on in this nature until you reach the last 4 holes which go through woodland.I didn't enjoy these holes as much & thought that this was where the course tailed off.If these holes had been in the same style as the previous holes i would have rated the course more highly. Also ,18 was a disappointingly weak par 3 finishing hole where you can't see the clubhouse.
The par 3's were okay but i've seen better on Alliss courses although there were plenty of enjoyable shortish par 4's.
There are some nice touches with big slate rocks by the tees, pockets of pampas grass , some nice plant areas & around the tees was very tidy.
Considering how wet it had been the course had dried out very well with few soggy areas & no muddy areas & the overall all round course condition was good.
If you can get this for less than £20 it's worth a go but for the normal £27 green fee i'd say no.

nice looking course but i thought some of the holes werent that hard- especially if u r a big hitter. hole 2 and 4 are short par 4s so a big hitter would have no problem. back 9 is better because the fairways are narrower with woods all around. but it is a good course. i would play there again

Played late March after substantial rain. Course in excellent condition with just two temp tees. Greens and fairways were really nice, if a bit slow - unless they have lots of water I suspect that it gets very fast in the summer.
Didn't feel that it was as much of a challenge as card suggested. Numerous par 4 and 5's, with not much variation even amongst the trees. A good drive on the mainly flat terrain gives a reasonable chance.
£20 for a round - not bad

what a little jem of a course. we played it monday 4/10/05 the staff were really helpfull and nice and the course was in realy good nick for the time of the year. the front nine were quite open but with bunkers in all the right places and quite tight fairways. the back nine goes into the woods with some brilliant and good challenging holes like the par3 15th and the par5 16th. we played of the yellows and the course is quite short (6059yrds) but still challeging. we had lunch arfter wich again was very good well done mill green.
