On June 5,6,7,8 we attend our Annual Green Jacket Away weekend at Longhirst hall we travelled up from the West Midlands, we satyed in Micklewood village the accomadation was excellant and the staff were very friendly in the village as well as the hotel with lovley views over the surrounding countryside, we played golf at Longhirst and from the moment we arrived we were greated with freindly people and smiling faces the staff were very helpful, they organised our Ntp,Ld'se etc, and also made us feel welcome everyday we were their. The course was set out perfect(The Lakes)very challanging and nice to play on, each and every hole had something about it, we played our event over 2 days and most proberly lost around 120 balls + between 13 golfers as their are a lot of lakes !! but again that did not matter we had great fun on the excellant course that we played, all our golfers commented on how good the staff , golf course and facilites were. overall its well worth the visit.
I would like to thank Mr Brodie/Mr Chambers and all the other staff who helped us have a brilliant weekend Oh and also this senior gentleman buy the name of "Stu" was a great help and looked after us but his constant whistle is a little bit to be desired !!!!

I am a member of Longhirst and often play at different courses located within the north east and I have to say you would be hard pushed to find a better course! The fairways and greens are extremley well looked after and I personally prefer the leisure course. The championship course does have a lot of water hazards and can be very tricky, especially on a windy day, where as the leisure course is more forgiving for any wayward drives or iron shots. The new clubhouse is fantastic and the food and drink is reasonably priced with all the staff being very friendly and accommodating. If your thinking of playing on a weekend I would recommend you to book early as the course is often busy down to the popularity with members and visitors alike. Finally I would recommend bringing a camera with you to capture some of the breath taking scenery and to just enjoy your game of golf on a truly spectacular course!

Played the championship course last year and have just been invited back by the course management as improvements have been made and the facilities have been updated. The course demands respect and beware the player who does not give it. Stroke index 1 is the relatively short but extremely tempting 13th - probably one of the hardest driving holes you will ever attempt in golf. Water on both sides, the narrow fairway runs diagonally from left to right, the difficulty often compounded by a crosswind. A truely awesome driving hole. The course is relatively young but will surely host PGA events or similar once the plantations have matured. This is definitely a 'Florida style' course and is a must for all those who love a challenge. A buggy may be needed for those who complain about distance between tees. Looking forward to going back but will definitely NOT be driving the 13th this time (lay up for a par instead!)

Played at Morpeth last 2 years on a golf weekend with 20 or so of us taking the journey north.
Played both courses , Championship and Lesire , prefering the Championship.
We went in September both years and unfortunately the weather was hit and miss on both occasions , not so much the rain but the wind was very strong and made the courses very challanging.
I have to say they played beutifully and they were in great condition , however I have never played any course with as much water. On most holes you have to be pin point accurate or your in the drink , my advice would be deffinately play them as they are great courses but take plenty of balls and your trunks !!

I took a party of 12 golfers to longhirst on the 31st March - 2nd April for 3 rounds of golf, unfortunatly the weather was appaling rain, rain, rain, but longhirst lived up to the reputation of staying open in all conditions.I thought the course was in great condition dispite the bad weather conditions it had substained, the ground staff could not have done more, all the staff were helpful and friendly. I look forward to going back next year maybe when its a little warmer.Great course a must play!!!

Great Course with plenty of water!! A real challenge for all golfers. You need to hit the ball straight, as if you are off line by a fraction you could end up taking a swim! When we played, the fairways were hard and the ball rolled a long way. The greens were a little slow, but they ran true. My advice is to take plenty of golf balls with you due to the fact that there is so much water. The par 3 6th is a great looking golf hole.
