Hemingford Abbots Golf Club Player Reports
Dominic Sacker (England) 09/06/04
I played the course at Hemingford on a Saturday afternoon in May. The course was quiet and we weren't held up at all during our round. The course itself was enjoyable and not particularly challenging, a good course for beginners and high handicappers. The fairways are wide with not many hazards. The few bunkers there are were highly variable, one I was in had a dusting of sand over soft clay, the other had deep soft white sand. The greens were not all they could be, a number of them were a bit patchy and bobbly and didn't run true. However do not let this put you of too much, it was still a nice relaxing way to spend an afternoon. The "island" green on the ninth requires some imagination however, think four foot wide moat rather than deep wide pond and you'll be okay.
The driving range at the course is a good quality, nice short range targets and most importantly good quality (Srixon) range balls.
