I have no idea who designed this course but they did a good job of fitting eighteen holes into the available space. The routing does get a bit convoluted with much toing and froing at certain points and the fact that as many as nine holes have internal out-of-bounds will tell you something of the courses character. The longest hole is just over 400 yards and most two shot holes will only require some form of wedge for the shot to the green if the first is half decent. There are a few good and potentially good holes. The first would be a cracking opener from the back tee but only O.K. from the yellows, the sixth is a challenging dogleg, the ninth one of the few where your lie may be off the level and the eighteenth, again, very good from the medal, so-so from the front. Although short many holes make the golfer think by using trees, hedgerows and ditches.
The greens were true but on the slow side with few significant contours. Tees were smallish and so seemed to suffer a bit of wear and tear. Some fairways were obviously newish but overall lies were good. Only the very wild would be bothered by the long rough which is avoidable. The shallow bunkers were well positioned and playable but some had weeds growing in them which adds nothing to the courses aesthetics.
Staff, both in the pro shop and clubhouse, were very helpful and pleasant and I can imagine a society of mixed abilities having a perfectly acceptable outing here.

The course was extended to 18 holes about 3 years ago but the original 9 are far better all round holes. The newer holes are mostly uninteresting and not particularly challenging. In summary i'd much rather play the original 9 holes twice as there are some interesting holes and countours here rather than the very flat and straight forward new 9 holes.

I am new to the area and having not played golf for two years found that the course was in great condition considering it has hardly rained in the last few weeks. Nice greens and tees, and the layout was ok. Does not try to be a long course with no par 5's and some short par 4's which are easily drivable which I managed to my delight on the 5th. Worth the green fee and makes use of the space it does have although I would suggest renumbering some of the holes. The OB is not in excess and does make the course quite tricky and the relief of the land makes the course harder than what it normally would be and club selection is very tricky
Will be going again.

Have plyed Huntswood a number of times now and I have to say that I have always found it excellent value for money. The course is short and not hugely tough but is enough of a challenge to make it worth playing. The course is very well designed using all the available space and some well placed bunkers and tree's etc. The greens are on the slow side but fair and true and, considering the recent drought, the fairways were excellent. The only negative was some very bare and poor tees. Very friendly club, very cheap and well worth a visit.

Played here midweek May 06 (£8 using a Green Free voucher).
Fairly open parkland course .It's very short (5,200 off the whites) & doesn't have a par 5.
The pro's are ;
1.It's very cheap with a voucher .
2.It's in a pleasant & tranquil setting .
3.We virtually had the course to ourselves.
4.Generally ,it's quite well presented.
5.There's half a dozen decent par 4's.
The cons are;
1.Lots of short par 4's & it's openess mean it's not very challenging.
2.Unusual hole plan (in the 1st 11 holes there's 1 par 3 & 10 par 4s ) .Although it's short in yardage the course layout involves quite a long winded & tiring route.
3.Tees were uncut & scruffy .Some fairways could have done with better grass coverage.
Overall,it's o.k for a cheap knockabout but i wouldn't return .

Excellent golf course - easy and relaxing round and very well kept greens. Played here four times this summer and thoroughly enjoyed it. Would recommend it!
