There were four of us playing on a Sunday Escape. This represents good value for money. Due to the recent spell of hot weather, the fairways were parched, however the greens were not too bad.
There were few people out during our fist round on the Sunday, however on the Monday, we had an earlier tee time. We got stuck behind a fourball comprising of two elderly couples, who had to analyse every shot, all had to stroll to the "first" ball, then the "second".... instead of their own ball and putt out everything including 4 inch tiddlers. The 6 minute tee intervals didn't help.
However, it was a very enjoyable weekend. Hotel facilities are excellent and you are treated like like royalty. We are already discussing next year's trip.

We played this course during a very wet period between Christmas and New Year. Originally planned to play three times in three days, because of the weather, we only managed one full round on the first day when the rain subsided.
A pleasant, easy to play course which, for the time of year was in remarkably good condition. Greens were soft and unrepaired pitchmarks and footprints were a problem, but in the circumstances this was more a minor distraction than a serious issue.
Some of the par-fours and fives were quite short and in the summer I guess this would make it even easier. However for a holiday break (and playing with my wife who is still relatively new to the game)it was an enjoyable experience.
On the second and third days, incessant rain made the course unplayable, however locals assured me that this course drains very well in normal circumstances.

Lovely condition. It was nice to have greens that actually stayed true to your put line, even with the hollow-tining. Shame about the overal design though. Tees are placed a lot of the time within an area of a mis-cued green approach shot. Several times we had to duck and wait for the thud when the shout of "FORE!" was heard. A little bit open in places, but the rough is quite thick to penalize. The 15th, 16th and 17th feel as if they were "bolt on attachments" to the rest of the course, and were not at all difficult. Maybe the 15th might have been from the back tees (they were back a long way), and how the 17th has a stroke index of 5 eludes me. The condition of the course more than makes up for it though, and being situated at the top of the South Downs and on flint it has exceptional drainage. Friendly staff.
