Pine Ridge Golf Course Player Reports

Played on a sunny Saturday morning and was very impressed.

The first 3 holes are played amongst the pine forest and are very reminiscent of Woburn. The rest of the front 9 is played in the open and is not quite as memorable.

The back 9 is back amongst the forest again and is a very attractive 9 holes of golf. The 16th is a tremendous par 4 which looks a bit scary off the tee, and the 17th, although on 124 yards on the card is all carry to a small green.

It took us 1hrs 30 to play the front nine, but 2 hrs 45 for the back nine where we had to wait on every tee. This is probably caused by the fact that the 11th is a driveable par 4, then the 12th a par 3 and you never catch up after that.

£31 for a weekend is tremendous value and I would highly recommend it.

Pine Ridge offers a very fair test of golf, and it is certainly well worth playing if you happen to be in the area. It is not long, but many of the fairways are quite tight, and it is probably a good idea to sacrifice some length for the sake of accuracy.

It is a most attractive course, too. We were lucky enough to play it on a sunny, late summer day, and it really looked very picturesque indeed. To say that it is obviously played a lot, both the fairways and the greens were in an excellent condition.

It is quite pricey - we paid £31 for a weekend round - but I should say that it is worth it. I have paid much more for rounds at courses which were nowhere near as good as Pine Ridge.

One more thing - the driving range with its pop-up tees is well worth a go before you start!

One of the best public courses I have played. Played mid week and therefore did not experience the weekend hold ups. However with it being public, the standards of golf are variable and despite being on my own, a four ball in front, who were constantly in the trees failed to call me through. I would be unhappy to pay the full price at the weekend for this, but midweek £22 seemed OK.

Course was dry after some heavy rainstorms and every bunker was a lake. Overall condition was OK, but greens were left long, probably to save them from the hackers. Setting is beautiful with tree lined fairways.

In this part of the world I think the course is very fair given that you might pay 10x the price for some of the local named private courses.

Driving range, pro shop and big bar. facilities good in terms of extent but quality a little off. Payment for round was in starters hut not pro shop.

Played this course 2/5/06 1:05pm tee off - was anxious about playing delays our 3 ball had no trouble and breezed round in under 4 hours. We did let a buggy through tho.

This course is fantastic - nice looking and was in great condition - facilities good including the unusual oak beamed theme bar!

Greens good size and in good nick. Par 5's reachable in 2 depending on tee shot and a few well placed trees to force tee shot direction.

Not many risk and reward holes but most are a good challenge.

A few too many walks between holes - but nothing too major.

I expect it will play a lot shorter as the warmer weather progresses.

For me the view as you walked up the path onto the 11th tee was brilliant.

Well worth the money. I will return one day but a trek from my home

I've now played this course on two occasions. My overall feelings are of intense disappointment - not because of the quality of the course but of the way it is managed. I played in a 2-ball starting at 1.57 on a Saturday afternoon. At that time you do expect to take a bit of time to get round but five and three quarter hours is just unacceptable.

We arrived at the second tee to find 3 fourballs queing in addition to those who had just played their t-shots. At the same tee I was subject to someone chatting into his mobile phone presumably because he too was bored to tears with the wait.

There was no marshall in sight and therefore no one to hurry play along.

We discussed our grievances with the guys in the office and while they completely accepted what we had to say - i.e. too many people in too short a time going through - they had given this feedback to the office and they chose to ignore it.

I telephoned the course today and was told that there is a marshall on until 12.30 on a Saturday and they are thinking of employing a starter again! Other than that they can offer no more crumbs of comfort.

This is a really excellent course which in my opinion is being completely ruined by poor management and lack of customer care. I will not be going back there.

I can't belive what alot of people have been saying about pine ridge. Myself my brother and a good friend went to pine ridge at the weekend and had a great day. We all agreed that the greens were the best we had played on for a long time. We all travel around every weekend and have played at different courses every time and this is by far the best weekend of golf we have had. None of us played particulary well but the course is FANTASTIC!! The course was buisy but we didn't have many hold up's along the way but you get that at all golf courses at the weekends, the last thing that you want to do when playing golf is to keep looking at the time to see how long it is taking anyway. By far the best pay and play course in surrey with out a doubt. I would say to anybody that visits pine ridge to also visit the 19th hole. The bar is area is great and the staff are very polite towards all customers. The course as a whole is brilliant, yes the green fees are a little steep but you do get what you pay for!!!!
