Moorend Golf Course Player Reports

For what it is Moorend is not a bad course at all. Not that long overall but there are couple of challneging par 5's - a 565 yarder with a tight fairway and a 500 yarder with a mean dogleg to it. Other than that it has a number of shortish par 4's with nice wide fairways and a few straighforward par 3's. Not many bunkers or hazards despite the occasional water feature. The surroundings of the course are actually quite pleasant and the fairways and greens reasonably well kept. Facilities wise there isnt much to speak of except for the small portakabin office/shop. The driving range seems to have had money invested in it lately. All in all not the most challenging of courses but worth a go if you happen to be passing.

In my opinion this is not the greatest course to play if you play regularly. There are bunkers placed extremely close to some of the tees which are unlikely to challenge the serious golfer! However, for total novices it has few restrictions which is what you need to get started.

We have played here quite a few times due to it being close to work. It is OK as an alternative to the range but I would not go out of your way to play it. There are few hazards and the greens are the worst I have ever played, often causing you to pick up your ball rather than attempt to put. OK as an introduction to a complete novice, but there are much better value for money courses elsewhere in the area.
