Played Wrekin on 1st (with playng partner Craig) and 3rd March 2008 (on my todd). Went round in 87 and 86 respectively (improvement at last) which was really good going - it's a par 66 course but it plays like a 70 at least with lots of challenging shots and enough bunkers around the greens to catch anything short or wide. Some of the holes (most memorably the 4th and 13th) are very nicely designed - high tees with a low greens/fairways to shoot at. The 14th is the nicest par 3 I can remember playing - a five iron was ideal for both rounds. 18th is known as Heart Attack Hill - anyone climbing that hill after 17 holes will instantly know why!! Be careful not to cut off too much of the woods when driving from 13th tee - I lost a ball each time! The views at times across the Shropshire countryside are beautiful. Because of the relatively elevated location of the club and sometimes exposed fairways, the wind can play a big part on a number of holes so bear this in mind when all seems calm on the tee itself!! Overall this club is superb, friendly and welcoming. It's in a lovely and accessible location, the course very nicely maintained, the greens very tricky at times and it offers some truly stunning views. Bacon sarnies in the clubhouse afterwards are highly recommended!

having played 40 coarses i have to put this one in my top 3 even though it isn,t that long don,t let it fool you with small greens you have to be precise the tees and the greens are in tip top condition credit to the green keeper, the 7th hole par 3 is one of the best if not the best par 3 i,v ever played, the welcome we had from the club house was very friendly will definately be going back to play this coarse again.

The Wrekin is one of the most beautiful course I have the pleaseure of playing.Very hilly with some very tricky greens. The fairways don't give you any help with flat lies either. It suits all standards of player and everybody should come away feeling tested to some point.Excellent conditions all round.

Wrekin Golf Club is superb with no par 5's or water the course is still tricky with the wind. The course has 6 par 3 but dont be fooled hardly any flat lies are found in the middle of the ercall woods the course gives little help to wayward tee shots how ever is the perfect course for low and high hadicappers alike as holes are not long

I made a quick visit in Late June 03 for a quick 11 holes - this is one of the few courses that loop back to the clubhouse before the 18th. Very unique greens and mounding around the greens - feels every bit of the 100 years that she'll be next year. Very hilly course with lots of trees and trouble if you spray your shots - I would love to visit again to such a peaceful and natural setting for golf.

The wrekin is a great course with some challenging holes however it could do with some par 5's and the odd bit of water to make it more difficult for the player. Also the price is very reasonable.

I have played Wrekin many times and I absolutely adore it. It is an extremely enjoyable course yet challenging when the wind gets up. For the quality of the course £20 is peanuts in relation to other courses of Wrekin's quality. The changesin relief make this course extremely good fun and with forests all around what more could a golfer ask for.

Truly a hidden gem. Not easy to find but well worth the effort. Sweeping fairways between tall pines, a hilly course immaculately kept. Head and shoulders above some of its better-known Shropshire neighbours. Put me in mind of Gleneagles... and for £20.00..............
