The golf course is a good challenge, not suitable for the higher handicaps.

The new club house is now open, unfortunately the staff do not welcome guests so better if you give the club house a miss. Not as friendly as their web site would have you believe

I've played Whitefield GC many times over the past 20 years and I keep coming back for more! In the last couple of years they have done lots of work to the course, new tees, improved bunkers, paths etc. and it's now an absolute pleasure. From the yellow tees it isn't long but it's both fair for higher handicaps and a real test for lower ones. Last time I played it was in superb condition, beautifully manicured fairways and slick greens. A treat. I must say too that I have always had a very friendly reception from the members at WGC.

I believe the new clubhouse is now opened and, incredibly, they are offering deals on full membership!

Played on the GreenFree vouchers and really enjoyed it. Course in really good condition, greens were very good for mid-October.

The front 9 is not too bad, in fact the first three holes are relatively straightforward. Then it gets tough, the par 3's are mainly long apart from the 3rd, and about 190 yards all requiring big carries over trouble. All in a great challenge.

I played this course on 17th June 2006 and I have to say it was an absolute pleasure.

At under five thousand eight hundred yards from the yellow tees its not a long course by any stretch but visually this undulating parkland course is stunning.

It has criss cross cut, very tight fairways and even the rough is cut in lines so every hole has a very impressive 'Wentworth' look to them.

The bunkering is well thought out and the sand in them is very soft so they are a 'pleasure' to play out of, the greens were in excellent condition, quick, with a good pure roll and hardly a pitch mark to be seen anywhere, you can only blame yourself for any missed putts.

There are a few short par 4's and only one par 5 over 500 yards, however there are also 6 par 4's at over four hundred yards so score well where you have your chance.

The 440 yard 13th is the best of them, visually stunning, a downhill tee shot to a very tight fairway and an uphill second shot to a sloping green make this an absolute crackerjack.

The real stars of this course though are the 5 par three's, the easiest of which is the 140 yard third, its bunkered to bits and has the locals' back gardens 5 yards away so club selection is critical to say the least!

The other 4 par three's are all between 180 and 190 yards and are as tough a set of par three's as you'll ever see. Each require a well struck long iron or lofted wood to hit the target.

The 5th is a blind tee shot and the land to the left and to the back of the green falls away dramatically and 9th and 11th are visually very intimidating, you either hit the target with a long iron or your'e looking at double bogey at least. The 17th (in the photograph) again is visually superb but its also 190 yards long so tough to say the least.

So like any decent course there are opportunities to score well if you play well but this course will also hurt you if the shots are not struck well

There are some new flats being built on the old club car park so there's not much space to park,ad the clubhouse is being renovated over the coming months, I did not use any of the clubhouse faclilities so I cannot comment on them, however the shop staff were very friendly and helpful.

I paid twenty sheets for a twilight round on a Saturday and if you have a 2for1 voucher it could be even cheaper.

Not a bad course. Greens and Fairways in excellent condition, which showed in my score!

Be careful of the 17/18th Combo - As you finish up going down into a hollow style par 3 followed by a very steep starting par 4 - which of course you have to drag your body up!!

But I wouldn't pay the £45 for a round that was quoted - thank god for half price offers.
