Stanmore Golf Club Player Reports

I first played at Stanmore 35 years ago and returned there with my society today. I feel if anything, the course is better now than ever before. At only par 68 some may view this as not much of a test but don't let that fool you. This is a tricky course which is in pristine condition.
There are several outstanding golf holes, namely the 2nd, 5th, 7th, 11th, 13th 15th and 17th.
I highly recommend Stanmore, it is a great course and always in tip top condition.

Have played a few times when its open to public on Mondays and Fridays for 17 quid. Good value, after the rubbish first hole the course really gets going on the front 9, with testing holes with changes in elevation and direction. A lot of fun to play and some really nice views. Back 9 is nearly as good but has a couple of more boring holes, My favourite though is 13 (i think) where you have to play a fade off the tee and then a longish iron to an elevated green, dont think i've parred it yet. Greens are quite good, there are better in the area though. would definitely recommend this course as it offers interesting challenges in terms of shot making.

played as a visitor on a friday morning, was quite impressed. very quiet, & quick to get round. as a relative beginner, it was challenging with quite a few daunting tee shots and uphill 2nds to par 4's, but not enough to put me off. the relatively easy 18th ensured that i came off the course feeling good about myself & in a positive mood. i only live 2mins away & am considering membership.

A truly great course for the money to play it, great surroundings and views, you wouldnt know it was in london its so quiet, a challenging course to say the least, lots of course management needed to tackle the elevation changes on some holes. a truly great day and the food and pro shop were brilliant.

We played on one of the hottest days of the year and still found the course well presented, particularly the greens. The course is ‘generous’ to those of us who are early in out golfing career and yet still challenging to the more accomplished player.
Be warned that playing on such a hot day was made testing due to some definite ups and down in the first nine, but it made the 19th hole all the more enjoyable! The pro and the facilities deserve an honourable mention as well. I will definitely play there again.

A friend and I played here on on friday morning as it was a visitors day and we both found it to be a really lovely, very well maintained course. The ground staff seem to take pride in their work that you don't find at a lot of other private courses. Together with that, the great views & the attention to detail makes it feel like your having a real treat.
The course not being that long was quite fast to get round on friday morning although the hills made it as hard on the feet as a much longer course would. I would imagine that weekends would be fairly slow due the 5 par 3's and shorter 4s.
A couple of the holes look a bit tight from the tee but there is plenty of room out there and you shouldn't get worried by some of the other reports you may have seen. The greens on the other hand we found to be really quick and tricky and i wasn't giving anything less than 18 inches after the first hole :-) On more than one occasion the ball seemed to have been played with the perfect weight only to speed up at the hole and leave us with another 3ft.
To sum up .. at the end of the round we both enquired about membership !
