Upon entering the grounds of the course the Hall presents a great backdrop especially when teeing off from the 1st & 10th T's. The Pro Shop is large with a good selection of equipment and very friendly staff. A mildly undulating course that @ present is in excellent condition (no rain for the last few weeks .. no sign of any drainage work that must be complete). The Greens were fast and are hard to read for the first time. All of the Holes presented different challenges and all were varied in there design and layout. The last Par 3 is a great hole and I would imagine could wreck a good card. I played with a member on Sat. following the Comp. and it was £18. Good value. They don't seem to do any 2-4-1's or GreenFree's offers. I would check the Website (which is good and accurate) for Green Fee's. Had a quick pint after the round and the Hall is also impressive internally.

If I had been informed that the course was undergoing major drainage work and all the holes were off shortened tees, the bunkers were in a very poor state, and the greens were bumpy ,then I wouldn't have travelled 2 hours to play here and pay a reduced fee of £25.Potentially a good course. The only redeeming feature was the excellent all day full breakfast for £4.50.

I used to play at Lancaster Golf Club from 2001 - 2003.
The course really is one of the best in the area with a challenging test of golf over the whole round. The front nine loops out from in front of the pro shop and opens with a fairly easy par 4. The back 9 starts from pretty much the same area but offers a completely different test to the first 9.
The stand out hole is the par 3 18th, arguably the best par 3 in Lancashire. Nerves of steel are needed in a competition here with an iron carry over a deep valley to a small green with the road and clubhouse to the right and a large tree to the left.
A great course with a great attitude to the game of golf.
