Rookwood Golf Course Player Reports

Have played this course a few times and I must say that for a pay and play public course, this is in excellent condition.
Some of the holes are fantastic and the greens are very good.
A few water holes and tricky approaches make this a good challenge and should be one for your list of places to try.
The greenfees are reasonable and the sandwich hut on the 10th is a very welcome site.
Very enjoyable game.

Played it for the first time yesterday. Despite the rain (lots!), the course was in excellent condition, and the greens were the best I've played on this year.
The front 9 has a number of shorter 300(ish) yd par 4's, but the holes get a little longer and a little tougher on the back.
This is an excellent course in beautiful surroundings, and the only thing missing is somewhere to warm up beforehand. It has a really nice practise green, but if they don't have room for a range then perhaps they need to invest in some nets.
The facilities otherwise are great, and they were very welcoming and helpful in the club shop.
Well worth the trip.

I have played a number of rounds at Rookwood at different times of the year and have always found the course to be in excellent condition. From the tee box to the green everything is as if it was a private club and not a municiple one. The staff are friendly and the prices reasonable. As for the course all the holes are interesting with each having their particular problems and challenges. Water comes into play on 5 holes and the best compliment I can give this course is that long after you have played it you will remember the majority of the holes unlike a number of other bland courses. The one criticism is the speed of play. The marshall needs to be visible and should ensure that slow players are moved on. Yesterday everyone bunched up behind 3 idiots who were out for a sunday morning stroll rather than wanting to play golf and this can mean that rounds take far too long on what is an excellent course
