what really annoyes me about this course is that it's over priced, the bunkers are in poor condition, the ball cleaners never seem to have any water in them and i dont think the club own a strimmer.the greens get over-spiked and then take months to recover properly and they also dont get watered enough.apart from that i suppose it's not that bad.

Many people will laugh if you tell them you've played at Aqualate. Although it may not be the most glamouress golf course in the country it offers amazing value for money. This course has some very interesting holes espcially the 9th/18th and although the greens could do with a little work its in fairly good condition. If your the more relaxed golfer looking for a quick pay and play round of golf i fully recomend Aqualate.

Martin is right in that the better holes are the 2nd and the 6th to ninth. There are actually ten holes, the fourth and thirteenth are parallel and are each only played once on an eighteen hole round. All the other holes have seperate tees for the back nine, but mostly they're on pretty similar lines. The greens must be much improved since Martin's round (previous comments) and are currently fairly fast compared with other courses in the area, but the bunkers badly needed attention - what sand there was being pretty hard. Fairways were well mown and the ball runs on well, and the rough penalises wayward shots, but is escapable. A fairly easy, but nonetheless entertaining round. Quiet on midweek afternoons. There is an attached driving range and a practise putting green.

The Aqualate Golf Course is a splendid oppurtunity for the more relaxed golfer. With a stunning first hole, right through to the tricky hole 9, i find that although it is a small course, it is great for someone just starting.
If passing through the area, I recommend this quaint, but very refreshing "pay as play delight."

When I mentioned to some of my golfing colleagues that I had played this course they all laughed!!! To be fair, this course is not all that bad. It is far from a classic, but if you have a couple of spare hours is worth a visit. After a very mediocre Par 4 opening hole, you play a long sweeping Par 5 that has two bunkers guarding the green. The 3rd is a poor uphill Par 3 that plays longer than its yardage. The 4th is a tough Par 4 with a small lake on the right of the green, followed by a mediocre short Par 4 easily driveable with a 3-wood. Holes 6 through 9 are all pretty good holes. The 7th has OB down the left and is probably the hardest hole on the course. The 9th is by far the best hole, a Par 3 with a lake guarding the left of the green. The course is not bad value for money, but some of the greens were in poor condition and all were in need of watering as they were like concrete.
