I have always found this course very well maintained and the staff to be very friendly. It is not a course for the big hitters, but is challenging enough to improve your short game. Sometimes a wait on the 2nd hole, but you tend to get this on 9 hole courses.
I imagine John Briggs (comment below) was just having an off day as I have never experienced any of the problems he commented on.

I am a member of a local golf club and took my son who is 8 and very capable to play as this is shorter than my club, was advised that he could not play because he was not 10 (good job they did not say that to Tiger Woods) and I could not play in normal spikes as they damage the green which is a myth! Had to laugh really as the general standard of player was appalling and my son was more than a match for them and I looked at some of the greens and they had huge unrepaired pitch marks splattered over them. Admittedly the ground was soft but they should concentrate on educating players to repair pitch marks than insist on soft spikes! I found the staff to very unfriendly.

Aesthetically, and technically, this is easily the best 9 hole course in the area. Huge, beautifully maintained greens, with short spongey fairways and sweping views, the course is in excellent shape. Because the fairways are wide and the greens large, it is a forgiving course and easied than the tighter 9 holers nearby.
The only gripe I have is that because of the course's popularity it took almost 3 hours to get round and there were a lot of hackers leaving litter and huge divots in their wake. Still, there were benches for you to sit on while you watched people skid the ball off into bushes from the tee and a huge and excellently maintained practice putting green.
Recommended, but go at an unpopular time, otherwise you'll get annoyed.

I have played Yarrow Valley several times this year with friends and we all agree that this is an excellent 9 holer, the best that they, and I, have ever played.
A good challenge for all the par 3s and the par 4. Lakes are located about 100 yards down from the tees to the right hand side of the 2nd and 3rd fairways and behind the 6th green. The lakes on the 2nd and 3rd will catch anyone out attempting to cut corners with low shots. The fairways are tight around the lakes as well.
Superb fairways, lush greens and beach-like bunkers signify that this is a well maintained course.
In the winter, you are requested to use Winter Tee Mats for a £3 refundable deposit. The logic is to protect the fairways from getting wrecked, essential if you want to keep the course in a good state all year round, so it is worth it.
The staff are very friendly and a small cafe is open as well as a well stocked Pro Shop.
Practice facilites here include putting green and driving net.
This course is a little bit pricey for some at £5 but it is well worth the money and represents better value than the other 9 holers in the area.
Try it, you will not be disappointed.

Play this course on a regular basis. Very well kept course always making efforts to improve the site. Best 9 hole course I have played. Pleasent views over Chorley and surrounding area great place to spend a few hours. Ideal for beginners and establishing your short game. Highly recommend.
