I played Golf de Wimereux with a group of friends in April and was very impressed.

The views of the sea and surrounding countryside are magnificent and the course has a great deal of character, one hole even has you driving off the top of a WWII concrete bunker!

The course was certainly challenging with any ball straying from the fairway being in very thick rough.

Buggies are available although most people seemed to use trolleys and the practice facilities, driving range and pro shop were all very good.

We have played Wimereux on a number of occasions and have thoroughly enjoyed the challenge every time. It is rarely crowded and always in excellent condition. The wind certainly comes into play and makes some of the longer holes tougher still. A refreshing change from places such as Hardelot and Le Touquet down the coast that seem manufactured for the English day tripper.

Golf de Wimereux is a wonderful course for English visitors who would like to do something other than shop during a short visit to France.

The course is a classic Scottish style links course with some distant views of the sea. On windy days it is an exceptional test of skill.

There are both sand and concrete bunkers on the course, although the latter are fortunately not in play! Greens are normally in very good condition, and most are well guarded. The 16th has a huge bunker in front of a raised green that is a particular challenge despite it being a short par 4.

Some extensive drainage work has been done over the winter that will make the course even better.

New management is trying to encourage more visitors, but most days the course is still fairly empty. Best tips for visitors - avoid Thursday afternoons when the local medical profession turn out, and go between 10:30 and 1 on the weekends between the local tournaments.

I THOUGHT THE COURSE WAS IN AN EXCELLENT CONDITION OVERALL.WE PLAYED ON WINDY DAY WITH THE WIND BLOWING OFF THE SEA, WHICH MADE THE LONG PAR 5 HOLES VERY TESTING. SUPERB VIEWS.VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL STAFF. WOULD RECOMMEND. 9/9/99

Played the course with two colleagues on a very crisp November (1999) day. It played marvellously and the condition of both greens and fairways was excellent. We had no wind on this particular day, but I can imagine it playing very tough if it does blow. The only down side of the whole club was that we had to go into town for lunch, as the club bar was not open

Just 10 mins from the port, quality greens (even in winter) and some terrific holes, with sea views. Rarely busy and a refreshing change from from Hardelot, Le Touquet etc where there are far too many English people. Play it before everybody discovers it!
