Nuremore Golf Club Player Reports

Having just returned from a weekend's golf at Nuremore, and as a high handicapper, I can recommend the course for all levels of golfer. The conditions were extremely wet on the Saturday, but the course showed no sign of this on the Sunday (full marks to the greenkeepers.)Playing off the medal tees makes for a long day, but all the more interesting for it.Although several fairways are tight, the proximity of others will allow you to use either. There are one or two holes that force you to drive water at 180-200 yds, or lay up. A few hills on fairway sides mean the wayward golfer has to do a bit of mountain goating, but you deserve it, if you try and cut too many corners. A very appealing look to the course is enhanced by the surrounding countryside, and the club and hotel staff make your stay very enjoyable. I believe it's a qualifier for the Irish open and the variety of the greens bears good evidence to that,- Some are on two levels and some have deceptive rolls which don't break the way you thought! After 3 rounds, I felt that I would be much better the next time I played, however, in our Wingers Society outing at the club, both high and low handicappers were rewarded, or punished, by the way they tackled it. Had the sun been shining, the drives would have been a good deal longer with some carry, but that's about the only thing you can't rely on in the British Isles.
