Having played the course for the first time, I can't wait to go back....despite starting in what even members described as a near-gale.

Superb layout, lovely greens, fairways in wonderful condition, hazards cleverly-placed - it really is difficult to find weaknesses. I suppose if you were being harsh, two or three holes could be described as relatively uninteresting, but that's relative to the best back nine I can remember playing (great design and beautiful views)....and yes, hard to see how the 17th, along with the 14th, could be bettered.

Oh - and everyone we met was as friendly and helpful as you could wish, both to us and to our wives and girlfriends. If you're at all able to get there, play it - and then make sure you get to Enniscrone as well.

I'm not articulate to add to the superlatives that have already been used. Few, if any, weak holes on the course. Perhaps the opening two, but only in the context of what follows. Too many good holes to mention them all, but 17 is one of my favourite golf holes ever played. Go and play.

This is certainly one of the finest (yet fairest) links courses that I have played. Head down in a "needle" matchplay competition it was still impossible not to be captivated by the majestic views across to Ben Bulben with Dromcliffe church in the foreground.... Spectacular!!

Without doubt, one of THE courses on the West Coast of Ireland. I play there every year in May in an annual society outing and always enjoy it. The 14th is rated one of the toughest par 4's in the country and the 18th requires a close on 200 yard carry over no mans land to reach the safe haven of the fairway - an intimidating shot to say the least. At the furthest point on the course, around 10 and 11, the peace and tranquillity of the surroundings is pure magic. The setting is superb, the course being literally at the end of the road, which makes the village of Rosses Point a delightful place to spend a few quiet days. A weekend here in fine weather is idyllic.

A very interesting course, certainly tough and with the magnificent scenery that everyone talks of. 2nd would have to be the most uncharacteristic links hole ever - like climbing a 300 yard stairwell. The rest of the course is perfect links golf, especially from 6th onwards. 13th a classic short hole, with the wind behind it feels impossible to stop anything on the green, and plenty of low, skulking bunkers to pick up the strays. It's well worth the journey.
