East Clare Golf Club Player Reports

Given that this course was created by locals, without the help of "Big Corporate", is laid out over a bog and is relatively new, this is a pretty reasonable track. It is a little scruffy around the edges, but it is a stern enough test in an area where there are relatively few courses. Water comes into play on at least 8 holes (and all the par threes bar one) so you have to be pretty accurate throughout. Signature holes would have to be the short par three 8th and the 9th where even a long accurate drive down towards the lake which encroaches into the fairway, leaves you no choice but a long second over water, avoiding a large tree. There is no let up on the back nine with ten being a right angle dog leg with water all down the left and OB down the left with a second avoiding the pond and finding an elevated two-tier green. The 17th is a great matchplay par three over water but the 18th is a little disappointing, but make par and you will have done well. Locals are incredibly friendly.
