Strabane Golf Club Player Reports

Strabane is an undiscovered gem to most tourists to Northern Ireland who seem to only want to play the "big" courses. Ask anyone who has played it however, and they will enthuse about it, and with a laugh tell you to watch out for the 9th!
Although par 69, playing to your handicap is not easy as there are only 2 par 5s (both good tests), and the 5 par 3s are a great challenge.
The greens are of the highest quality thanks in no small part to the dedication of the head greenkeeper and his staff. The fairways are amongst the best anywhere in Ireland.
The welcome that you receive is one of the warmest anywhere in the world. The bar serves some of the best Guinness outside of Dublin.
For the low handicapper, the annual 36 hole Scratch Cup provies the sternest challenge that the course can offer, 2 rounds of the Blue Tees! With a great atmosphere on the day, you will find yourself thinking that you are in a major competition as the members come out to watch and support the high quality golf on a high quality Golf Course.

I have played this course most times I have been back visiting loved ones in Strabane. Usually in battle with my grandad. It is a great test of golf and is always in brilliant condition. Favourite hole would have to be the excellent par4 11th Puddle Alley!! Cant wait to play it again!!!!

I play this course right and regular and I find it a fabulous test of golf, the greens are in great condition and there are very few bad lies received on the fairways. The rough can be hard to get out of, try a short iron to get back in play, its not a long course, but offers plenty of obstacles. Enjoyable!!
The 19th however is out of this world, on any day I have been, there is always someone in to welcome you and enjoy a bit of banter.
A fun day out for any keen golfer!!!

I played this course and found it to be an excellent test of golf. The 9th hole, 'The River', lives up to its reputation as one of the best holes in Ulster golf, don't be put off by Mourne!!!!
