Wonderful course with clever design & very fast greens. Not really a long course. but each hole demands thought. I played in March 2004; four rounds; views of mountaintops stunning. Each hole has character, well tended fairways and challenge. Practice green is huge. Well worth playing several times.

Penha Longa is every holiday golfers dream. It is lush, tree-lined, undulating, and spectacular. It has history, it has all the amenities required, well positioned driving range, chipping green, putting green, spike bar. It has the look and feel of succulent Valderamma, but not as long. Though a trifle hilly, it’s a joy to walk. Pluses: The complete golf course. Minuses: Building development creeping in. Conclusion: A must play.

THE COURSE WAS IN SUPERB CONDITION,VERY CHALLENGING,BEST COURSE I HAVE EVER PLAYED,I SHOT A 84, NOT BAD WITH HIRED CLUBS,CANNOT WAIT UNTIL I GO AGAIN.

A great course! Visited Penha Longa twice recently. The first time, the course played "fair" with calm conditions meaning a good challenge. On my second visit the wind was at normal levels according to members and the word challenge took a new meaning. The par-3 15 (165 meters over water) was a 6-iron under calm conditions and became a 5-woods in the wind. You will need all the shots in your bag. The staff is most helpful.

One of the best courses I have played, fantastic setting and peaceful rolling countryside. Very friendly staff and excellent golf shop (very good prices). Some great feature holes, long carries over water all make this a tough test. Avoid the American tourists if you can, they spoil the peace and quiet and treat the bunkers like a line dancing area. Americans please remember your etiquette and rake the bunkers!!
