Location/Description:

A bold new development consisting of a (planned) 18 holes and some 9000 yards stretching halfway round the Beauly Firth.

The signature hole is the first which requires a carry from the tee of over 270 yards to land on a narrow sand bar which is only above water at low tide. From there to the first green is another carry of 250 yards. Local rules require that golfers log their home course and next of kin before leaving the first tee.

Timescales for development of holes 2 through 18 is dependant on somebody completing the first hole for although it was reached in two shots in June 2002, the golfer concerned was too slow in leaving the sandbar and was taken by the outgoing tide before arriving at the green and putting out. The Rules Ctte deemed that the hole had not been completed and that extension to the course was not therefore justified. (Curiously enough, the tardy golfer was carried in an easterly direction by the tide and was rescued by a fourball at Fortrose GC.)

Open all year round. Haggis and Neeps a clubhouse speciality. Shorts and trainers definitely not acceptable.

Visitors:

Always welcome, especially swimmers. Open all year, apart from a statutory 30 minutes closing on Christmas Day to allow time for members to rush home and eat lunch.
