Was lucky enough to play this gem in June 2005 and was greeted by a typical Scottish summer day…mist on the practice tee, sunshine for the front 9, pouring rain on the back except for the last hole when the sun reappeared.
I believe golf has been played at this venue for ages but the new layout and clubhouse is less than 20 years old. Quite remarkable then that they have managed to create a links course that will undoubtedly appear in “Top 100” course lists all over the world for years to come. The undulating fairways and elevation changes provide some spectacular views over the course and out to sea, crowned by a number of holes running alongside the waves.
It doesn’t have the history of some of it’s more illustrious neighbours but any trip to Fife which does not stop off at Kingsbarns will be a second rate excursion…..a MUST play!

Greatest views of our trip no doubt. Course condition above average...not as good as carn or muir, but better then turn, prest, and = troon. Caddies were the best of the trip. Facilities were excellent...just like the club, give them an account number and drink, eat, and golf 36 till it's dark. We had a super time in perfect august no wind wx. a must play but i thought all the other rota courses were more of a links test than this....the fwys here were too huge. compared to prestwick, this place was like a football field for driving. the 4 of us went thru 250 lbs easy for the day and it was well worth it. you'll not have a better view of the sea than here and a great day of golf.

Up there with the best I've played or seen. Amazing costal views and not a poor hole in sight, with the condition of the course being perfect. A must play even though it is relatively more expensive than others. Very friendly staff ensure it will be a memorable day at Kingsbarns.

I played this course a total of 9 times during 2002 and each time I played it IT GOT BETTER & BETTER.
The course played different each time I played due to the weather conditions.
The par 3 15th hole must be one of the best par 3 hole in scottish golf, played from the medel tee 185 yard playing over the sea some days it was a good 7 iron and other days a full 3 iron superb hole.
From the moment you arrive the staff are great the food excellent and the practise range is well laid out then comes this sensational course a must for all golfers to play.
Once you have played it you will know the true meaning of scottish links golf (there's nothing like it believe me)
Nelson Berry (USA) 20/08/02
Played Aug. 11, 2002. It doesn't get any better. Period. I have played Pebble Beach, The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island (1991 Ryder Cup), HarbourTown (PGA stop), Turnberry, Muirfield, Troon, the Old Course and many other worthy courses in my lifetime. Playing Kingsbarns was my crowning moment. The views, the strategy of the course, and the overall experience are in a total class by itself. I hope this secret doesn't get out too soon.
It is your loss if you miss this one when visiting Scotland.
George Corbet (Scotland ) 20/08/02
Lucky enough to play this course on a lovely sunny day with slight breeze - and it was probably my most enjoyable days golfing (even though we lost the match on the 18th.) The course was magnificent. I'd heard that lots of earth moving had gone into the construction of an "artificial" links - if so it wasn't apparent, and this course is straight into my Top 3. Fairways were generous, turf was crisp, greens were large but tricky and demanded a shot hitting the right spot. The vistas from each tee were stunning.
From the moment we arrived the staff were friendly and helpful, and it was hard to find fault with any part of the set up. On the £40 per head 4-ball offer - this has to be one of the best bargains around.
A final word on the approach to the 18th, take a club bigger than you think. All 4 of us (7 - 10 hcps) failed to get over the burn.

I played Kingsbarns in October 2002 with three friends, we had been told it was a must play course if you are in Scotland. The price at £125.00 each nearly put us off, thank God it didn't I can truly say that it was money well spent. From the locker room to the 18th hole this course is the best I have played. Every hole is different and you stand on each tee and just amire the hole before playing your shot. If any one is considering playing then I know it's a lot of money but take the chance and I am sure you will not regret it.

I read a recent article which said that this course was a MUST PLAY.
-My God, what an understatement!
For forty quid each for a four ball special offer to Scottish golfers, this has got to be THE bargain of 2002!
The course was nothing short of sensational.
I expected relatively bland holes carved out of
former fields (like another unnamed new course a
few miles along the coast) but the first impressions from the clubhouse took my breath away.
I played the Ailsa last year and thought that that was as good as golf tracks got but this
course FAR surpassed any expectations I had beforehand.
The course guide speaks of 'links golf in its true form can be a spirtitual experience' - Halleluia, brother, I am today a reborn golfer!
-What an uplifting experience.
I cannot recommend this course highly enough.
Please, if its the only decent golfing feat you enbark upon in 2002, get three committed golfing
mates to join you in a game at Kingsbarns - you
will not go home disappointed - there is not one
bad hole on the golf course, honestly (and I am not a Kingsbarns employee trying to sell the place to visitors). Go see and play for yourself.
