Barshaw Golf Club Player Reports
Maggie Pringle (Scotland) 04/10/07
I played Barshaw on 3/10/2007 and I was very pleasantly surprised to find such an attractive and well kept course. I felt that the fairways could have been cut a bit shorter: it was a wet day and there was no run at all. But the greens were fine, and the pin positions made good scoring very difficult. The views from the course were lovely, and the many and varied trees were beginning to look quite magnificent as the colours changed for autumn. It was certainly not a boring course. It would be good if there could be different pars for ladies: some of the holes were too long to be realistic par 4's for us!

For all these so called golfers reports on barshaw, instead of groaning about the condition of the course, which in my time there was exceptable even off season, why not instead of bitching pay money and join a private course, granted it costs a lot of money, but if you put the course to the sword then surely you must think yourself above it-wake up glasgow-TIGER you aint!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I played the Course Yesterday Sept 5th and it was in far better condition than I had expected, the greens were cut the rough not too bad as well, however I believe the bumpyness of the greens make it impossible to score well. Course however is good value at a tenner a round. Lack of Facilities though

I should be grateful if you would amend your prices for Barshaw. It is £9.40 per round (way overpriced) and £143.00 for a season ticket, which compared to the price of a round is good value although you would seldom play a round as once you get past the 2nd hole it slows up dramatically. Too many "would be" golfers watching too much TV, actually thinking they can play the game. My advice is to play the first 5, jump on to 9, then play in from 13 to 18. The 18th is a good hole into the wind from the back tee.
Easy fix at Barshaw is to introduce wardens to get rid of those who jump on for free, and more importantly PLEASE PLEASE cut the greens.
No way you can score with the greens in the condition their in.
If these 2 steps were introduced it would make for a far more enjoyable round!!
