I have been visiting Braemar for the last six years for the games and always look forward to playing my favourite course outside England. As one of your correspondents said I also find the 2nd a very testing hole with its green running away from you as you play. A very fiendly atmosphere throughout the club and a very warm welcome in the clubhouse after playing.

For the last six years we have had a weeks golfing holiday in Scotland and play as many course's as we can, but one course that we always play is Braemar. The course is one of the most scenic you could play in scotland, the greens are always in good condition and although not the longest course it provide's a good challange to all standards of golfers, the 2nd can ruin your card before you even get going, the best hole for me is the 13th a good tee shot and you can just carry the wee burn but a little short or wayward and then you can see how brave you are, Braemar is a must for everyone visiting the area, there is bench by the 10th tee, take a seat for a few moments and look around you, life does'nt get much better than this.

I play this course each year with the Atholl Hotel Golfing Society and it is a fantastic place for round of golf , scenic with the surrounding hills and mountains and serene with the gentle sound of the river Clunie running through it . The course is not too tiring but certainly challenging, demanding accuracy to score on the many par 3s . For me , the 2nd., a par 4 , remains the ultimate challenge , this hole alone is worth the green fee money .

The new clubhouse has excellent facilities with good food and very friendly staff .

If you are in the area MAKE time and play it , you won't forget it .

A top quality holiday course with excellent greens and fairways.

The mountain views and River Clunie, which runs through the middle of the course, come as a real bonus.

Par 3's are a feature of the course(8 no.)and range from 103 yards(not as easy as it sounds)to 245 yards in length.

I would highly recommend Braemar to all.

Braemar is a charming and challenging course up in the highlands. As americans we were very impressed with the welcome we received even in a Saturday morning. A very nice town to stop off on a trip from St. Andrews north to Inverness. Dmurray 289@AOL.com
