Colonsay Golf Club Player Reports
Ian Runcie (England) 03/08/08
Played here years ago an unforgettable experience and an astronomical score. Possibly the oldest course in the UK, in that the original course and character are maintained. Golf as it was two centuries ago. Shore-line rocks with a bit of turf on top as tees. Machair fairways, maintained by sheep and rabbits but nowadays someone does comes round with a lawnmower to define the greens.
Cheap and mostly deserted. Doubles up as the island's emergency air-strip.
