With so many par 3's and the manner in which the holes play across cliff tops and cut through rocks, it is a bit of a novelty course of the likes you are unlikely to experience again. But it's fun, and on 2F1 especially, it would be a shame not to play this course just the once.

Cullen is a wonderfully sporty course, with 10 par 3's and just one par 5, but nonetheless a challenging round. The course plays on top of, and then down below, a series of clifftops. Virtually every hole offers great views of the sea. No. 7, Firth View, is a terrific par 3 played from on top of a cliff to a green far down below. Nos. 11, 12, and 13 -- all par 3's -- play in and around a series of stack formations that cut through the middle of the course. The course (summer '99) is in great shape, and the clubhouse is very inviting. Club secretary Ian Findlay may be the nicest club secretary in all of Scotland; a wonderful host. All in all, well worth playing if in the area.

I`ve just returned back to Sweden from a visit to Cullen GC.The weather was exremly good for being February and the greens almost in summer condition. I stayed at the same B&B as last summer. It`s the house closest to the course and run by a very nice couple named Kirby. Their telephone number is: 01542 840819. Enjoy Your stay! O.L. Ohlsson

An Extraordinary Course, With Short Holes, But Greens Completely Hidden From View On Some. Watch Out For The Flags On The Rocks To Aim Your Tee Shots, Or You Could End Up Playing To The Wrong Greens!
