Dollar Golf Club Player Reports

I have played this course a number of times now and I just love it. The views are terrific and the course tricky but managable. I was surprised therefor to see it described in one of these reports as a long slog. The course is less than 6,000 yards from the medal tees and a lot less for visitors. With a course record of 57 it can be neither long nor a slog. The course could do with a few distance marker posts but the map on the back of the scorecard makes it almost impossible to get lost. In short, this is a course well worth a visit by those who want to play on a traditional Scottish inland course. It is a little hilly but who wants to play on a flat featureless field.

On the back of reading some reviews reporting that the scenary from this course was superb, we included it in our Scotland tour of September 07. The views were indeed superb, but believe me, and I'm not one for wishing to criticise courses, this course is nothing but a long slog. Played on the side of hill, you never get a flat lie, and for some reason you seem to be hitting 75% more shots uphill than down. We played to the wrong greens on 3 occasions because of the lack of local knowledge, course planner and marker posts placed in unhelpful locations. It's cheap, especially on 2F1, but I wouldn't go round again if it was free.

Played Dollar yesterday (8th November 2003)The views across the Forth Valley were superb, the course had another 4 persons on it and the weather was clear with no wind.

I play off 15.6 and managed to go round in 3 over Par.Most of the Tees in the winter are forwad but some are further back .

The greens are small but in superb condition and were like lightning.

Not bad considering its the Middle of November. This is well worth a visit over the winter.

Well, well, Dollar golf club made it on to the internet! I am a resident of Dollar but currently at university in Alabama, USA. I have, as most of the residents of Dollar shall know, been a member at this course for the last 8 years. Over this time I have had some very good but also very bad scores here, my best being an 11 under par while playing with my mate one day in a bounce match, however my point is that this is the type of course you can never tell how good you are going to play, it can bite you badly even at the best of times. It's well worth a game even if it's just for the beautiful views.

Dollar GC has two big pluses - the views are superb and the greens are always excellent. There are plenty of friendly locals to play with too such as Club Champion Philip "Fantapants" Horne, the ever-keen Bill McFarlane, who plays the 1st 4 holes over and over but still doesn't know the lines on the greens, and Ed "Nutter" Borrowman who'll play 72 holes in a day if he can.

Very Exciting To See Dollar Golf Course On The Www . My First Job When I Was A Kid Was At The Club House Serving Meals! My Parents(elspeth & Gilbert Doull) Were The Captains Together Back In The Late Seventies. It Is A Great Course But You`d Better Watch Out For The Sheep! Good Drinks In The Pub! Rsvp.
