I am only taking up this sport and have played a few courses. I found the people at this club very friendly and helpful, and they welcomed visitors. As with anywhere on Kintyre the scenery is stunning. A nice course to play, but don't get caught up too much in the game that you don't look around you. Theres more to golf than perfectly kept greens and fairways.

Dunaverty Golf Club offers the visitor a very entertaining and enjoyable round of golf. Being fairly short and not too demanding it is posssible to shoot a fairly low score. If you are not in any hurry to finish your round take time out after the 10th hole and park yourself on the bench high above the course and admire the views towards Northern Ireland. You may even be lucky enough to see dolphins leaping out of the water in Brunerican Bay. Enjoy.

A strange course, beautiful in parts and ragged in others, and somewhat akin to playing an antique golf course. Of the 16 courses I recently played, Dunaverty felt older and more primitive than any of them. In that respect, it can represent a unique destination -- playing a course little changed from its beginnings more than 100 years ago. The first four holes, the home hole, and portions of two others lie on land still grazed by cows, and there are plenty of them. They are the weakest set of holes. Once you get past them, however, the course does offer wonderful seaside views and an odd set of holes: five par 4's under 280 yards, and three par 3's of 180+ yards that are beyond difficult. Quirky, and only 4800 yards, but full of good scenery. Played by many visiting nearby Machrihanish, and worth a late evening or early morning round.
