Duns Golf Club Player Reports

Played here on last day of 2007 golfing trip in April. Was dissapointed that the clubhouse was not open for breakfasts, we travelled into Duns for brekkie (lost revenue for a club) that in my opinion can not be packed out with visitors on a daily basis given the location. Never the less the course made up for this slight blight on our last day, once the sun broke threw the course looked in good nick for the time of year, some short holes to get easy pars on but there are some tricky green out there and sloping fairways! not too bad on the legs either. I would definetly play again and would love to sample what I am sure is a lovely bacon butty in the morning next time!!

we played duns as our final course of our 4 day stay in the borders on the 18th october.

we had a strange arravial as when we got there, there wasnt anyone there to take our green fee's etc. we eventually went into duns town for our breakfast and when we returned the club house was open! - strange!

anyway, once we got onto the 1st hole the course looked in very good condition for the time of year. i smashed a good drive down the right of the fairway and worked out i had around 160 yrds left to the green. i took out my 6 iron and hit a good shot but came up short. this would be the story for the rest of the day! a little tip here would be dont take any notice of the markers as i think every single one is incorrect! this aside it is a really nice parkland course with good scenery and some really interesting holes.

the clubhouse is good, with a nice patio area just adjacent to the 18 hole. the drinks are reasonably priced but you have to pay a £1 service charge to have something to eat or drink which again i found strange.

overall it was a good days golf to finish of our holiday but i wouldnt bend over backwards to play the course again.

A fantastic course! Second year here using freedom of the fairways vouchers. The course has a good mixture of holes and the conditions of every green was fantastic.

Club house is good and the staff are friendly and welcoming.

If in borders using freedom of the fairways, this course is a must!

Played at yesterday and even though there was drizzle rain from the 4th hole until 18th. i found the course in absolute fabulous condition. I highly recommend to come and play here and when it has sunshine available. I believe the coure will look even better with this. The greens are fantastic and have challenging puts. The 15th i must say is one hell of a hole !!

I can't wait to go back and play.....

Well done to everyone there !!!

Good test of golf in two halves - the first nine being on the lower area of ground and the back nine on a higher area. Can be testing in windy conditions particularly on the second nine which is very exposed. Good value for money and worth a visit if you are in the Borders. The clubhouse has been refurbished and extended and you will get a friendly welcome.

Duns has matured over the last few years having been a nine hole course, it is now a challenging 18 holer. No hole is the same and they each present different challenges for any golfer. The course never seems to be affected by too much rain which is useful if it is raining heavy elsewhere. The staff are friendly and it is never too busy.
