Elgin Golf Club Player Reports
Edward Lowe (England) 04/09/07
Elgin is a beautiful parkland course on the outskirts of the town. It is a long course when you consider there are nine par 4’s measuring over 400 yards long. Elgin prides itself on maintaining high standards, which could be seen by the work carried out by the greenkeepers. The tree-lined fairways are reasonably wide so you can afford to be slightly wayward off the tee box. The greens had been dressed before I played so they were slow on this occasion. Yet they are true and will reward solid putts. The rough is penal, yet not so much you will lose your ball. Generally, the course is in good condition and a fair test of golf.
I would recommend this course to players of all standards. This is not a particularly scenic golf course when compared to other courses in the area. Yet it is quiet, inland, and a thorough test of golf. I will certainly be paying Elgin a visit on my next trip to Scotland

An excellent course and the hardest par 69 you will play. Lots of par 4s over 400 yards and a par 3 of 245 yds! Very well laid out, many interesting holes and you get away with nothing wayward. One of the best designed clubhouses I have visited. Highly recommended.

A good inland test and an interesting contrast to its neighbour, Forres. The front 9 tends to play the toughest and the back 9 always presents good birdie chances, particularly 11 thru 15. Good greens and a friendly atmosphere.
