Forres Golf Club Player Reports
Stephen Parker (Scotland) 02/10/06
One of the best parkland courses in the north of Scotland. Plenty of variation with some holes much tighter than others. Constant changes in elevation mean that you are often playing blindly and there are a number of holes where the first sight of the green will be when you walk onto it with your putter. A course planner/Strokesaver is essential at Forres. A hugely enjoyable course all the way round, but the 15th, 16th & 18th make up a tremendous finishing stretch. Off course, the clubhouse is tidy enough, but always strikes me as a little spartan. Nevertheless, staff throughout the club are helpful and pleasant. A must on any tour of this area and a welcome break from the local "Links Monsters".

Played at the weekend for £27.00 a round. An absolute gem with a good variety of holes - some open and others among the trees but always interesting.
Could do with better signage between holes and on one hole (15th?), the white marker cross in the trees above a blind approach was obscured by foliage. Look out for the cockerel on the 18th! (see photos)
Members and staff were welcoming and the clubhouse food was excellent.
Look forward to going playing it again.

A fantastic course. 16th feature hole is fantastic but the 4th and 18th are also excellent and memorable. Excellent greens, several different types of holes, parkland, woodland etc. Highly recommended.

Laid out by James Braid, this is one of the North's finest inland courses. There are plenty of mature trees, and lush fairways, abundant hilly lies and a back 9 featuring some long par 4's make this course an attractive and challenging test.

forres is a good course but they need more sand in the bunkers and need better ideas for the course it is not safe with all of them stones that have been put down.
