It seems that the club have given up trying to convince the golfing public that courses can involve severe climbs as a recent visit to the club website reveals that the course has been turned into a 9 hole course without those accessed only via Heart Attack Hill.
It would seem that the whole web site entry needs revision.
The course in its previous incarnation was interesting and the holes on the top of the hill challenging but that is perhaps no longer of much interest.

I have just played this course and would agree with other comments about "The Hill" however it should be said, since I am not the fittest golfer ever, that once you get to the top the views are superb and you can recover your breath quite quickly. It also very peaceful. I enjoyed the rest of the course played on a beautiful morning with no breeze. The thing that stood out for me though was the welcome received. I have played over 150 courses around Scotland and reckon this must be one of the friendliest clubs I have been to. From the initial telephone call to book through to the 19th hole after the round the members were extremely welcoming. While I dont think I could play here every week I would have no hesitation in coming back to play again later in the season

The other comments re the hilly terrain are somewhat understated. When our party (aged between 35 and 60)played there we christened the climb from 9 to 11 'Heart Attack Hill' and 'Coronary Corner'. Be warned anybody other than the fittest of golfers - you don't need a trolley, more like a cable car!!!
That said, the rest of the course and the welcome given was fine.

We played this course as part of a 12 course tour of the Borders. We rated this the 9th best course. The first nine are excellent. The second nine particularly the 10 are ridiculously hilly. The 10th rises so steeply that one of our party could not get his trolley up the hill. This hole belongs on a crazy golf course. The view is great when you do make the top. Two of the four members of our party said they would never play the course again because of the back nine. The locals told us they often just play the front nine twice.

This Course Is Not For The Golfer Afraid Of Terrain. Up And Down Barely Does Justice To The Hill This Track Is Laid Out Over. Great Use Was Made Of The Old Stone Fences Incorporated Into The Course. Be Prepared For A Windy Outing, My Partner And I Played In 30 Kmph Conditions. Great Course For Twice The Green Fee, However, It Is As Challenging To Find As It Is To Play. Played The Course In Mid April Under A Sunny Sky. This Was A Great Service To Use As I Was Planning My Trip To Scotland. Thanks For The Effort.
