Leven Thistle Golf Club Player Reports
James McCann (Scotland) 24/08/02
Played in the Leven Thistle Open on 24 August 2002.
A bargain for 10 quid - God bless the 'Wee Yellow
Book' for keeping Scottish golfers informed of such
events. Not a course for the visiting holidaymaker
who is a beginner - this is serious golf with
narrow fairways, punitive rough and demanding greens.
Like the Elie course where there are two clubs sharing
the same course, the Thistle club has the inferior of
the two clubhouses but I suspect the friendliest!
The wind was not blowing much today but God knows
what type of score you would run up when it was
gusting. - Its the type of course that will
challenge you ALL the way round, with a great last
hole played to a green just over the Scoonie burn.
Well worth a visit. Then again the adjacent Lundin Links
looks very inviting. Maybe next year for that...
Alistair Cook (Scotland) 05/07/00
What an absolute gem. Narrow fairways, hard greens, long ruff. Take plenty of balls, and forget about the score if the wind gets up. Great value also at £24
