The comments from Gordon Melrose are now several if not many years old and long out of date as a description of Lochranza Golf Course. Continued development and improvement as well as the expected maturity have brought the golf course to the condition where it is frequently acknowledged by visiting golfers as the "best course on Arran".
The wild red deer still roam the golf course and are considered a wonderful feature by most who play, their calling cards are less obtrusive than once they may have been. The greens are like those on most golf courses, most days they are very good, some days they are less good, usually due to the variations in weather. Lochranza is a very natural golf course, not artificially created or maintained, and intended to be similar to the conditions of traditional Scottish golf courses.
It is enjoyed by most who play. Everyone is welcomed.

This is a nice little course. A bit of a drive to get there but the little winding roads are fun. The golf course is almost totally flat. It has a nice start with a long par 5(i think). You've got to watch out not to stike a poor Deer who is standing watching. There are probably four times as many deer as the is holes. The holes are short and not very interesting. The fairways are in pretty bad condition. The greens aren't too hot either. Its a fun wee course, worth a visit, just don't wear your best golf shoes. The Deer tend to leave there calling cards all over the fairways. Gordon Melrose A95gm2@river.ac.uk
