What a great course, a superb layout. Short but challenging with undulating, fast true greens. I did get absolutely soaked but the round was a pleasure.

I've just returned from a short golfing break on Arran, and it is a delightful place.\r\nThe golfing is quite superb, and the courses are very well looked after.\r\nMachrie Bay is a small but quite interesting 9 hole Par 31 course, ideal for getting rid of your aches and pains after the long drive up.\r\nHoles to remember? The first is a nice drive with the beach on one side and the road on the other. You need to be quite straight off the tee.\r\nThe 2nd tee is a short walk up the road (took me a while to find despite the huge pole with a large number 2 on!) A nice little chip over a mound to a hidden green.\r\nAnd the ninth is quite an interesting hole. A drive back down the hill and accross the road. That's the first time I've hit a road with a ball. They bounce a bit don't they?\r\nOn the whole, this an easy (almost fun) course, that won't tax you too much. The fee when I was there (April '98) was œ7.00 per day (not œ6.00 as stated above) butit's worth\r\nseven pounds of anyones money. \r\nMarks out of 10\r\nDifficulty 3\r\nCondition 7\r\nScenery 8 (smashing views accross the bay)\r\nValue for money 8\r\nFacilities 5 (tea room, hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, cakes, ice creams, toilets) Basic but clean and the staff are very friendly.
