I am 15 and I live in London and every 1/2 term or holiday i come up to ayshire to play maybole. I have played golf most of my life and I learnt to play here. I play this course between 30 or 40 times a year. The facilities may not be great but the green fee is only £2 and it is great value for money. There are not many courses as hilly as this so it is a challenge. Nowadays the course is kept in surprisingly good condition considering there are only two groundsmen. This is a brilliant and extremely friendly course and i think that most people are put off by the lack of facilities.

I am a regular player at many of the ayrshire golf courses and i find maybole easy as i recently got my record of 1 under par on it. I say it needs some updating mainly because i am not able to play in competitions because there are hardly any on.

Firstly...
The course is still a goat track, secondly there are no facilities-- no showers, refreshments, or the opportunity to change your sweaty clothes - THE CLUBHOUSE WAS LOCKED(I am being polite at this stage!) Still, nothing has improved in the last 20 years, since I last played there. The greens are brick hard and the tees are not much better!
STILL....THE SWIMMING POOL WAS OPEN AND I MANAGED A SHOWER AND CAN OF IRN BRU!
Bye

My wife and I have played Maybole twice in the last two years. We find it to be a fun, friendly course and a nice walk after sightseeing. Hole number eight is particularly interesting - a short, sharp dogleg with a bunker in the prime landing area. I've made birdie and double-bogie in two tries. Nice challenge. Worth a visit if you're in the area.
