Played this course on 04/07/05 with three friends and a really good test of golf. Neither wonder it's an Open qualifier course. Very testing holes, greens are in good condition, clubhouse and food are second to none and a thoroughly enjoyable day was had by all. Paid a lot more for a lot less golf course than this whilst on holiday there.

Our society played in May and thoroughly enjoyed our day. We were given a warm welcome in the pro shop and enjoyed the food in the clubhouse, although changing facilities for visitors are a bit cramped. The course was in excellent condition despite recent heavy rain. There are plenty of long par 4's to test us higher handicappers and you need to keep it straight to avoid the punishing long rough which swallowed up a large number of balls. The greens are well protected too, as one of our party will testify. He had a "Hamlet" moment in a bunker on the 17th in front of an amused groundsman who was waiting to cut the green. I'd recommend it if you're in the Edinburgh area.

I recently played at Monktonhall as part of a society day and have to say that it was a great day. Not only was the course challenging, (it's long for us high handicappers), it was in fantastic condition. The greens were the fastest and truest I have played on this season. Despite the extremely strong and cold wind I had a good round and the warm welcome in the clubhouse rounded it all off.

The best non-links course in the lothians which has been certified by it being selected as an Open qualifying course. The course is always in excellent condition and a must play if visiting the area. Hit the 18th in two and you can go to the 19th very happy.
