I played a round at Muthill last summer and loved every minute of it. It is a pristine, short, 9 hole course, where the emphasis is on accuracy and subtlety. You probably will not need your driver, but you will need imagination to play the twisting fairways and the small, firm greens.

The last hole, a long par 3, deserves particular mention. An intimidating elevated tee to a small, bunkered green; but with the gorse in bloom and a fine view of the Ochils, it is a wonderful place to be.
