Three years running, I've stayed in Pitlochry for a good week in August/September. Pitlochry GC is the 'home course', and will remain a favorite as such. Last year, a friend and I managed to put in three rounds in one day, ending in pitch darkness for the 18th (54th!). Why is this a wonderful golf course? Mostly because you step off the 18th green knowing and remembering every single hole. No blurry 12th through 17th: Crystal clear fun all the way!
In just a few days I'll be going back: First time playing during early season. I'm hoping for a more forgiving rough...

I've played this course several times now and it never fails to amaze me how completely spent I am by the time I reach the fourth tee box. (take advantage of the free drink on the fourth tee box)It's a pretty tough course if you're having an off day with the driver as the rough is penal. But overall it's good fun and a fair test. Great value for money

I first played this course in 1995 when a group of 12 avid english golfers decided to invade Scotland!! We have returned every year since as Pitlochry is one of the prettiest golf courses you will find anywhere in the country!! Not a par 5 in sight but who needs one? We have always received a warm welcome both in the Pro shop and the clubhouse and appreciate the dry sense of humour of the club pro. On the 3rd visit one of our party who hadnt played the course before asked if the greens were quick. George looked out the pro shop window and quick as a flash replied "well, they havent moved all night"!!
BRILLIANT and great value

Oh if all courses were like this. It would be easy to use up all the superlatives, all I can do is strongly recommend you to play this course. It has to be the best course I have ever played in Scotland. The condition, the variety of holes, the views, the wildlife, the hospitality, the catering, the clubhouse all wonderful.
The only thing wrong is they need to fill in that b----dy stream in front of the 18th green!!!

Don't let the sight of the first 3 holes put you off. They go straight uphill , but once you're up there you play round the top of the hill so although it's undulating it's not too taxing.
At about £15 for a round OR a day it's the best value golf I know of.
If you want accomodation try the Moulin Hotel nearby. Nice rooms good bar and great food. Even got its' own brewery. Highly recommended.
No, I'm not on commission !

A challenge but a fair one. The first two holes take you steeply up to one of the best views in Scottish golf. Certain sections have wide forgiving (and overlapping) fairways but others are very tight indeed. Never less than interesting.
A nice clubhouse with good food makes this a great day out.

one of the great, unheralded courses of scotland. physically demanding with views unsurpassed. Take a lesson from Club Professional George Hampton for a grand experience. A wonderful golfing experience. contact me if you like, for further info...tomex@surfari.net.
