Port Glasgow Golf Club Player Reports
Torodd Fuglesteg (Scotland) 25/07/06
I arrived at the course in a rather bad mood after my playing partners on the neighbour course had let me down and cancelled the play. Port Glasgow was hastily arranged an hour before play.
I was met by noone at the course. Paying the green fee was a bit messy. But a nice club member gave me his strokesaver for free (thank you !!) and I got the feeling that this club was informal and very friendly. This was later confirmed by the very friendly other members I met. Excellent people !
The golf: Teed off to a par 3 which was good. The second hole is not so good. The tee boxes had too much grass. The rest of the very undulating course on the other hand was very good with good fairways and excellent greens. My mood was now very good. Then the 360 degrees views started to open up........ To say that this course is a very scenic course is an understatement. This alone is worth the money. Add the good golf and you have three-four hours of pure enjoyment.
The golf demands great accuracy and a lot of length. I therefore gives it eight points. This is a challenging and very difficult course. It is most definate not a newbeginners course. With my handicap; I was struggling through this course. But I also found it very enjoyable. Bogies and double-bogies are good scores with my high handicap on this course.
Go to this course with an open mind. I will return to this course again and again.

The clubhouse has now undergone a complete modernisation programme and has good facilities including a visitors locker room.

The clubhouse is very old and needs a bit of work done on it,other than that the club is overall very well setup.
