Shotts Golf Club Player Reports

Mr Horne......you say there has been work done on the Greens at shotts. I am guessing you are talking about the 6th and 13th? (correct me if i am wrong). The 6th Green is totally different from the rest of the greens on the course, Its like putting on Laminate flooring. The 13th green is now "baldy" in places, and never has a consistent speed, or has a true roll. So as you say....There has been a lot of work done....In my opinion it has not been a success.
Also......there are adults who are dis-respectful 2 younger players (u18) and they are treated differently from Certain senior members.
But overall if Shotts is dry....It provides a great challenge for your golf game.
Graham Horne captain 2004 (Scotland) 30/08/04
It is a pity that Mr McCue did not take your advice and take up his gripe with the club in person. But to put the record straight in the past 5 years we have built 2 new greens,4 new tees as well as other extensive drainage work on the course.
Also the clubhouse has been extensivley refurbished.
There is more work being planned for both the course and clubhouse for the 2005 season so for a great days golf come to Shotts you will always find a warm welcome and good value.
Come and decide for yourself see you soon.
Colin Mccue (Scotland) 25/08/04
Shotts golf course when it is Dry is Very good. Although.....The greens are sometimes Impossible to putt on, and being a member, i know! Also the Drainage leaves a lot 2 be desired, Like last week...Shotts was closed, and the very same day, I played a totally dry Harburn. Both had equal amounts of Rain!
In my Opinion there are better courses around than Shotts, And u do not need 2 look hard for better ones than what we have at Shotts.
My Opinion, Play it if u like!

A hilly moorland course with some exceptional holes . A par at the 4th is is always a bonus as it is all uphill with lots of trouble on the right and round the green, while the 16th is a long drive to a small green. And when the wind blows, and it can , many of the holes can become a whole lot longer

I played the course on a very calm day by Shotts standards, still a test though if you dont hit the superb greens.A much tougher test if the wind gets up.Good helpfull service from the Pro Shop and Club House to end a good days golf.

SHOTTS IS A LOVELY COURSE TO PLAY.
FAIRWAYS ARE GOOD BUT I WAS MOST
OF ALL IMPRESSED BY THE GREENS.
