Heathland course with hills and lovely views of Edinburgh city and the Firth of Forth. Located five miles south west of the capital and south of the A720, Torphin Hills is one of three courses enjoying an idyllic location on the north facing slopes of the Pentland Hills.
In truth, this little course is an undiscovered gem. It has wonderful views of the city of Edinburgh and the Forth Estuary. The course features some stiff climbs and drops and is heathland in nature. It is always in good condition and , although short, your short iron play will have to be up to standard if you are to score well.

I have found Torphin to be excellent value and quite a challenging course, especially if it's windy. The course has always been well kept and the views on a clear day are stunning. Definately worth a visit.

Torphin is an excellent course

A testing course with excellent panoramic views of Edinburgh and the Lothians. Uphill climbs on third and fourth but levels out from five onward coming back down on sixteen and seventeen.
Feature hole for me is the par 4 eleventh - 'Berts Cottage'. Driveable for the long hitters!
An all round excellent golf course with excellent greens thrown in!

A challenge from the start . a short first. the third starts the climb. the fourth is a difficult par 3 , vertically! 5 eased by the removal of whins. Watch the ninth, dont take too much club;the triangle can change the course of the game; from the forteenth you can view most of central scotland and the lothians; a challange awaits at 16, 17 and a testing finish at 18. but for views look down to the castle over the reservoir when playing 11 and 13
